LiveText Achieves IMS LTI 1.1 Certification and Deeper LMS Integration
CHICAGO, Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LiveText Inc., a leading assessment, e-Portfolio and accreditation management system provider for institutions of higher education, is pleased to announce official IMS Learning Tools Interoperability™ certification for LTI 1.1. LiveText can be found in IMS Global's list of compliant tool providers here: http://www.imsglobal.org/cc/statuschart.cfm as well as the LTI Certified catalog, http://developers.imsglobal.org/catalog.html.
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI)™ is a specification developed by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, whose principal concept is to establish a standard way of integrating remotely-hosted learning applications with platforms like learning management systems.
"IMS is very pleased with LiveText achieving LTI certification as a tool provider," said Dr. Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer of IMS. "By incorporating LTI integration, LiveText will enable a more seamless experience for their customers across a wide range of integration scenarios."
For example, having now achieved LTI v1.0 and v1.1, LiveText provides its partner institutions with a standard method to establish a secure link that allows for Single-Sign On access to LiveText from within Blackboard, Moodle, D2L and Canvas, and other LMS platforms. The system also passes back an outcome to the LMS – providing a more seamless teaching and learning experience for instructors and students.
Users can log in once to their LMS through a Single-Sign On mechanism and access, complete and submit assignments in LiveText; instructors' grades are also automatically passed from LiveText back to the LMS grade book. This integration establishes a critical connection between work submitted in courses in the LMS and the learning outcomes assessed at the course and program levels in LiveText, as well as eliminates the need for instructors to enter grades more than once.
"This achievement reflects our commitment to seamlessly integrate into our customers' ecosystems in order to more easily support and enhance their processes and workflows. We plan to continue to expand our integration points to do just that," said Antis Thelapilly, director of engineering for LiveText.
