LIM College Launching Online Master's Program in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management
NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LIM College, located in New York City and focused exclusively on the study of business and fashion, is launching a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree program in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management This new program will be offered fully online as well as in a traditional classroom format, allowing students to pursue a master's degree no matter where they are located.
The 30-credit program is designed to provide students who hold bachelor's degrees in fields other than fashion with knowledge that will allow them to pursue careers in merchandising and retail management. Full-time students will complete the program, including an internship, in three semesters throughout one calendar year.
Ideal for professionals who seek an accelerated graduate degree and career support to make a transition into the fashion industry, LIM College will begin MPS classes in January of 2013. In the fall of 2013, the program will also be offered online.
According to Elizabeth S. Marcuse, President of LIM College, "The MPS program was developed with the industry's evolving needs in mind. With the global expansion of domestic and international retailers, manufacturers, and distributors, and the rapid growth of advanced technologies, the outlook for career opportunities in fashion merchandising and retail management is robust."
Says Dr. Milan Milasinovic, LIM College's Vice President for Academic Affairs, "Employers are now actively recruiting master's degree recipients to help them navigate the demands of an increasingly numbers-driven global market. LIM College's MPS graduates will be uniquely positioned to fulfill this need."
Participants will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of fashion merchandising and retail management with an emphasis on global trends, merchandising, retailing, product development, consumption, and business development. Graduates will be prepared to apply mastery of key concepts within retail fashion management relating to merchandising, sales and consumer behavior, retailing (both store operations and leadership), and product management. There will also be an emphasis on developing management skills needed for success in this field, including leadership, team-building, and oral and written communications.
