LightSpeed Unveils Fully Brandable, Interactive POS Application
Customizable app helps retailers transform the POS into an extension of their sales staff
MONTREAL, May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LightSpeed, the commerce platform for serious retailers, today unveiled its fully brandable point of sale (POS) mobile application. LightSpeed Cloud for iPad allows retailers to bring their own aesthetic to every aspect of customer engagement. The patent-pending app lets retailers use product photos, logos and other imagery to easily design a custom, fully-branded POS and interactive selling tool that brings inventory alive with personalized product look-ups and recommendations. With LightSpeed's robust commerce platform behind it, retailers not only have an interactive, customer-facing app for in-store, but also powerful tools to manage inventory, suppliers and customer profiles across all store locations, online and offline.
According to Yankee Group, 61 percent of large merchants already use a mobile checkout or plan to in 2014. As adoption increases, merchants of all sizes are starting to bring mobile in-store beyond just the checkout, using tablets as an extension of their sales staff, showcasing product details and recommending alternative and add-on items. As retailers incorporate more technology into their conversations with customers, the look and feel of the POS becomes increasingly important.
Custom POS solutions and applications, however, come with a hefty price tag. With LightSpeed Cloud for iPad, any retailer can create a completely branded shopping experience, from check-in to check-out. While the pricing and ease-of-use is perfect for small retailers, LightSpeed's open APIs, deep inventory management, CRM capabilities, and web-based interface meet the needs of even the largest global brands.
"One of brick-and-mortar retailers' biggest assets is the ability to immerse the customer in their brand from the moment they walk in the door. Technologies you bring into your store should add to that, not interrupt it," said Dax Dasilva, founder and CEO of LightSpeed. "With this release, we are bringing retailers' own identity to the forefront. For the first time, they can control the entire experience, to the transaction and beyond."
New features of LightSpeed Cloud include:
- Brandable POS for iPad: Retailers can populate point of sale screens and receipts with custom logos and photos, or choose from a variety of pre-populated images that represent their products, brand or industry. From inventory look-ups to check-out, when a customer is interacting with the app, they are never taken out of the brand experience.
- Faster check-out: The new iPad app features a streamlined check-out process that has been specifically designed for sales associates who need to quickly find customer profiles, look up inventory, and complete the transaction. Because sales associates can now swipe and tap images rather than scroll through a list of products, the workflow leverages muscle-memory to accelerate the sales process.
- Easier up-sell/cross-sell: Rather than just a mobile check-out tool, the iPad is now an extension of sales staff. Inventory tagging and interactive viewing capabilities allow sales associates to show customers related or additional items based on their interests to help them complete an outfit, decide on a color, or view a product that may not be in stock.
"At DASH, we want to use technology to bring elements to our boutiques that will make the client shopping experience engaging and easy," said Dakota DiSanto, Director of Retail at DASH, the Kardashian-owned boutique. "With LightSpeed, we can use the iPad on the store-floor to provide a more personalized experience for our clients. Because we are pushing to have technology more prominently integrated with our brand, we believe the iPad and, more specifically, LightSpeed Cloud for iPad, will be a great addition to our branding experience."
