LAFAYETTE, La., Feb. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LHC Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LHCG), a national provider of home health, hospice and comprehensive post-acute healthcare services, announced today that it has named Sarah Myers, an executive director for state home health care associations and public policy professional for over 20 years, to serve as the company's Washington D.C.-based Vice President of Governmental Affairs, effective March 1, 2016.
As executive director and lobbyist for the Oregon Association for Home Care, Myers provided 19 consecutive years of leadership for a prominent, respected home care association. With Oregon home care member-experts, Myers and members from around the state lobbied successfully for increased Medicaid payments to providers by requiring the state to pay fee-for-service rates based on Medicare cost, a significant change to provider rate payment.
Myers is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and a Certified Association Executive. She is a co-founder and former chair and secretary-treasurer for the Council of State Home Care Associations, a leading national home care association comprised of more than 35 individual state home care and hospice associations and their CEOs/executive directors.
She received the President's Award for Outstanding Leadership for successes and organizational growth from the Oregon Association for Home Care in 1998 and 2013. Recently, Myers was selected to testify before the Congressional House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Health, to compel Congress to act on legislation aimed at improving regulations affecting home health providers.
LHC Group is a national provider of post-acute care services with 10,000 employees operating more than 350 locations in 25 states around the nation.
"We are happy and honored to welcome Sarah to the LHC Group team," said Keith G. Myers, LHC Group's chairman and CEO. "I know our entire organization will benefit from her leadership, knowledge and public policy experience. Sarah is well-known and highly respected in our nation's capital as a passionate advocate for the home health industry and an effective liaison to local, state and federal governments. She is a significant addition to our company during this period of unprecedented opportunity."
