LOS ANGELES, July 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy-winning television host and Food Network chef Sandra Lee and celebrity parents Giuliana Rancic, Brooke Burke-Charvet, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and Alysia Reiner, among others, came out last night to the "LG Junior Chef Academy" – an evening filled with family-friendly games and cooking activities recognizing No Kid Hungry and celebrating LG Electronics' new 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Door-in-Door™ and CustomChill™, the latest addition to LG's collection of Door-in-Door refrigerators.
At the Los Angeles event, VIP guests – including celebrity moms, dads, kids and Hollywood insiders – experienced first-hand the convenience of the LG's newest Door-in-Door refrigerator, including easy access to family favorites and customizable organization. The evening's festivities featured a variety of family-focused activities ranging from hands-on cooking demonstrations with Lee and decorating personalized chef kits made up of a chef hat, apron and cooking utensils, to drawing in the LG Door-in-Door design studio, and more – encouraging families to get creative in the kitchen.
"Many of today's families live an 'on the go' lifestyle, so it's important for them to find ways to come together," said David VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA. "LG always looks for ways to facilitate that in the heart of the home, and our kitchen technologies like Door-in-Door and CustomChill help make it easier."
LG continues to give back to the community and throughout the event, provided the opportunity for celebrities to participate in a food drive to benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, a local No Kid Hungry partner organization. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in America by connecting kids in need to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals, and teaches low-income families to cook healthy, affordable meals. Since the campaign's launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with more than 107 million additional meals.
After the event, LG also donated its new Door-in-Door refrigerator to one of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank's partnering organizations, which will help serve fresh, nutritious meals to children who, during the summer, don't have access to the school meals they rely on to grow and thrive. By ensuring these kids continue to receive healthy meals during the summer, No Kid Hungry is making sure they return to school healthy and ready to learn.
"I am so appreciative to LG for their generous support of No Kid Hungry," said Lee. "This was a fantastic event to illustrate the importance of spending quality time with family in the kitchen and how kitchen advances like LG's new refrigerator are great additions to today's busy households."
Rancic added, "We had a blast at the LG Junior Chef Academy. What a great way to spend quality time with Duke – and he learned to cook while supporting No Kid Hungry!"
The new LG Door-in-Door refrigerator with CustomChill provides multiple storage options, making it easier than ever to organize. For family favorites like juices, yogurt or milk, the Door-in-Door compartment, easily accessible with the push of a button, keeps them front and center without having to open the entire refrigerator. Accessing this feature also reduces cold air loss by up to 47 percent* to help keep food fresher for longer and conserve energy. This model is the LG's first to introduce its versatile CustomChill drawer that can be used as either extra refrigerator or soft freezer space using four different temperature settings. It offers the flexibility and convenience families love to store a wide variety of food items.
In addition to the company's latest refrigerator with CustomChill technology, LG showcased four models from its broader Door-in-Door refrigerator suite, all of which are designed to meet varying consumer needs. Each has its own differentiated benefit including offering mega-capacity storage space to side-by-side design, offering a versatile line-up from which consumers can select the Door-in-Door model best suited for their lifestyle.
The ENERGY STAR® certified 30-cubic-foot CustomChill French-Door refrigerator (LG Model LMXS30776S) is available now at stores nationwide, at a manufacturer's suggested price of $3,999.
