LG Electronics to Host Pre-Game Tailgate for Fans
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Sept. 30, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics USA, an official partner of the NCAA®, announced that its fifth episode of The Rivalries, a docu-series that offers a behind-the-scenes look into college sports' lesser known but no less intense rivalries, will feature St. Mary's University (San Antonio, Texas) and St. Edwards University (Austin, Texas).
Filming for the popular Rivalries series will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at the women's volleyball match where fans can watch the teams compete in Lone Star Conference action. Match attendees can also enjoy free food and refreshments at a pre-match tailgate hosted by LG at Lot T in front of Bill Greehey Arena. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes including LG Monitors and LG Gram 2-in-1 Laptops during the match.
A rivalry that stems over 50 years in volleyball, the Hilltoppers and Rattlers meet annually in the Battle of the Saints. Now members of the NCAA DII Lone Star Conference, the teams compete in a yearly head-to-head battle, earning a point for each win in all sports. At the end of the year, the institution with the most points wins – bringing this rivalry to the next level. The St. Edward's Hilltoppers are led by Stefanie Holler who began her first season as head coach in 2018. She has since led the team to the penultimate Heartland Conference Championship match which was won by St. Mary's in 2017. Eager to make her mark, St. Mary's Rattlers head coach, Laura Ulrich, is in her sophomore season as the 11th coach in the university's history. This week fans and friends can cheer on the two schools as they meet for this highly anticipated matchup.
The Rivalries series is available free and exclusively on the NCAA Championships Channel (Channel 100) via LG Channels on LG Smart TVs. Each episode highlights a different sports rivalry as told through interviews, historical moments, and the most recent game footage. Future episodes will be announced at a later date.
The exclusive content series is part of a three-year partnership with the NCAA, Turner Sports, and CBS Sports for category exclusive marketing and distribution rights to NCAA Championship competitions that will expand the reach of college sports to legions of current fans and generations of new ones. LG's support of the NCAA Championships will include multiple initiatives to inspire student-athletes including the recent launch of the NCAA Championships Channel, which will feature up to 50 NCAA Fall, Winter and Spring championships, both live and on-demand via LG's exclusive free streaming service, LG Channels.
