Lexicon Branding continues to develop category-changing brand names in 2018, including new corporate names for Philips Lighting and Verizon's app-based wireless provider
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lexicon Branding's goal is to continue to be the leader in brand naming, creating noteworthy names widely recognized by consumers.
Q1 and Q2 of 2018 saw the launch of Signify for Philips Lighting, Visible Wireless for Verizon, and Cosm for Herman Miller. The new brands exemplify Lexicon's reach across categories and expertise to serve clients' brand evolution and innovative product development.
Signify, a new corporate name for Philips, was developed to support the idea that light and lighting solutions are becoming an intelligent language that communicates both meaning and emotion.
According to David Placek, Lexicon's founder and president, "Light and lighting solutions provide comfort, security, and guidance for all of us and we wanted to develop a name that would support all of these benefits, be distinctive and relevant in the category, and exude the confidence of a leader."
Verizon Wireless approached Lexicon to develop a name for their new venture offering simple and affordable cell service, easily accessed through an app. From this emerged Visible, a real English word supporting the mission to operate with complete transparency and continually improve based on user requests and feedback.
One of Lexicon's greatest strengths is supporting clients' product innovation, clearly demonstrated with Herman Miller's recent announcement of Cosm. The company's new automatically adjusting task chair is the product of two decades of design and engineering research. Lexicon developed the name Cosm to convey the future of ergonomics and the chair's adaptability to support and mold to each unique individual.
Other brands created by Lexicon that launched in 2018 include Hydris, Colgate's breakthrough oral care line treating dry mouth; Watermark, a corporate rebrand in the education assessment field; and Vyne, a new platform for insurance brokers, launched by Economical.
Lexicon Branding is based in Sausalito, California. The company focuses entirely on the development of product and company names, supporting strategic language, and brand architecture. Names created by Lexicon include Sonos, Swiffer, Dasani, Tangerine Bank, Sonnet Insurance, OnStar, Pentium, and PowerBook.
