EMERYVILLE, Calif., Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:LF), the leader in educational entertainment, today announced that LeapTV™, LeapBand™ and LeapPad3™ have all been honored with a Silver Award by the National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA). NAPPA enlists a team of independent expert judges and family testers to review each submission, with only the most entertaining, appealing, safe, educational, age-appropriate and enduring products receiving a NAPPA award distinction. To date, LeapFrog has received 40 awards from NAPPA, one of the longest running awards programs in the country.
"Being recognized for excellence by NAPPA for the LeapTV educational, active video game system, LeapFrog's first wearable activity tracker for kids LeapBand and our powerful on-the-go Wi-Fi enabled tablet LeapPad3 is a tremendous honor," said John Barbour, chief executive officer at LeapFrog. "NAPPA is a well-established resource for parents looking for quality products for their children, and winning Silver Award honors is a testament to our continued innovation and our commitment to helping children reach their potential."
"This was certainly a marquee year for LeapFrog with the release of LeapTV, LeapBand and LeapPad3," said Julie Kertes, general manager of NAPPA. "All three are incredibly innovative and excellent examples of bringing engaging and fun educational experiences to children, and parents who choose LeapTV, LeapBand and LeapPad3 for their children this year will be happy that they did."
Get Moving with LeapTV!
LeapTV is the first educational, active video gaming system from LeapFrog that gets kids into the action while teaching a range of skills across reading, mathematics, science and problem solving. With simple and intuitive user interfaces created with first-time players in mind, LeapTV provides first time players three ways to play: motion control, pointer play, and a classic controller mode. Using LeapTV's camera, children are put right into the game seeing themselves dance, play sports and more while they experience curricular challenges along the way. LeapTV also includes a transforming gaming controller that has been specifically designed for children's small hands and limited dexterity. In its regular configuration, it enables classic gameplay, but with the simple press of a button it easily transforms into a motion controller and LED pointer controller. The LeapTV system includes console, motion-sensing camera, camera mount, transforming controller with wrist strap, HDMI cable, 16GB of memory and built-in Wi-Fi for downloading apps (sold separately).
LeapTV provides access to LeapFrog's Learning Library of more than 100 game cartridges, game downloads and videos* all designed or approved by LeapFrog's team of gaming and learning experts. Unique to LeapFrog, the Learning Team includes a full-time in-house team of five learning experts, all with PhDs in various specialties including education, child development and educational psychology. The first major title launches for LeapTV were created through a combination of great game play design and educational input from the LeapFrog Learning Team.
Fit Made Fun with LeapBand!
Inspired by the Partnership for a Healthier America and First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative to help children develop healthy habits and lead more active lives, the LeapBand activity tracker gets kids moving with fun activity challenges and healthy living tips combined with incredibly engaging virtual pet play, all of which encourages them to be more physically active and make healthier choices.
LeapFrog's Most Powerful Learning Tablet!
With kid-safe web, Wi-Fi and a new capacitive touchscreen, LeapPad3 is the perfect combination of performance, durability, safety and affordability. LeapFrog's highest performing five-inch learning tablet, LeapPad3 features LeapFrog's latest and most powerful processor, 4GB of memory, two mega-pixel front and back cameras and video recorders, and a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery so the exploration and creativity never ends.
