L7 Defense and Check Point Software Partner to Protect Against Application DDoS Attacks
The joint solution expands DDoS threat prevention to IoT enabled attacks
BEER SHEVA, Israel, December 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
L7 Defense, the pioneering Israeli cyber security "Natural Intelligence" company, today announced that it has partnered with Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. to protect customers from sophisticated denial of service (DDoS) attacks which mainly target the application Layer ("Layer 7"). The joint solution mitigates DDoS attacks in today's complex, fast-paced, advanced threat landscape.
Like the natural immune system protects our bodies, L7 Defense's AMMUNE® technology protects enterprises from yet unfamiliar DDoS attacks, automatically and quickly. The process of attack discovery is very precise - attacking patterns are extracted from the first sign of attack and are used for immediate attack mitigation. AMMUNE overcomes the major obstacle of "false alarming" of attacks, which are frequently generated by existing solutions in the noisy Data Center environment.
"L7 Defense integration with Check Point creates a powerful combination for customers," said Dr. Doron Chema, CEO of L7 Defense. "Customers get tested and field-proven protection for their data centers against advanced DDoS attacks, including those coming from IoT botnets. With AMMUNE, real time signatures are made and used to block hostile traffic by the Check Point firewall system."
AMMUNE is enterprise-ready and integrates seamlessly with Check Point Next-Generation Threat Prevention appliances or Web Services. Upon installation, AMMUNE automatically adapts itself to the protected applications' interface. It then continuously updates its baseline to reflect any application change. To face the fast growth of traffic at the initiation of a DDoS attack, the elastic AMMUNE command and control system (CCS) flexibly loads more AMMUNE server instances which are later removed as the attack terminated.
"Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are increasing in number and are relatively easy to carry out, causing serious damage to companies that rely on web services to operate," said Alon Kantor, vice-president of business development, Check Point Software. "Planning for DDoS attack detection and mitigation is a critical business priority. The integrated solution with L7 Defense serves as an essential component for defending against such attacks."
