SAN FRANCISCO and NEW YORK, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Krux (www.krux.com), the global technology leader in cloud-based data management, has opened its first company office in Australia and appointed long-time media executive Jo Gaines to leads its growing business there.
As country manager for Australia, Ms. Gaines will lead the company's business development and marketing efforts. She enjoys 19 years of media expertise including 15 years in digital and new media and is recognized as an accomplished digital media pioneer.
Prior to joining Krux, she served as chief revenue officer at Brandscreen, an independent demand-side platform provider where she managed the Australian commercial and marketing team supporting more than 80 active accounts. At CBS Interactive, she was in charge of Australian consumer brands as general manager, consumer and CBSi, overseeing a team of 35 staffers. She also held senior sales and marketing positions at Kidspost.com.au, iPrime and Yahoo!7 among other firms. Ms. Gaines also launched and served as CEO of Digital Media Options Pty, Ltd, a digital media consultancy specializing in optimizing and monetizing digital assets for brands.
The marketplace opportunity in APAC, and Australia specifically, is significant. A recent report from Frost & Sullivan revealed that Australia's digital advertising expenditure was up 16 percent in 2013 from 2012, far outpacing traditional media channels in a trend the business consulting firm says will continue for years to come. Krux is already a leader in the APAC market with clients including CCI Japan, DNP Japan, NewsLimited, CarSales.com.au, RealEstate.com.au and many others. In April, Krux opened an office in Singapore and appointed Stu Spiteri as managing director.
"With the rapid expansion of Australia's online advertising spend, comes the increased demand for a robust data management platform to help marketers and publishers take advantage of their consumer data," said Krux Co-founder and CEO Tom Chavez. "Jo has been on the forefront of digital media – from content strategy to programmatic trading and even running her own consultancy. She understands the power of Krux's Data Management Platform (DMP) offering by virtue of having leveraged first-party data for publishers and brands alike. Having her onboard is a boon to Krux and clients throughout Australia."
"Data-driven marketing is transforming the practice of marketing globally and Australian marketers and publishers are leading the charge in this transformation," said Ms. Gaines. "Throughout my career, I have been obsessed with talking to advertisers about audiences rather than about clicks and impressions. I look forward to working with Krux's clients, partners and other organizations to help them succeed in this exciting new market."
An active member of the IAB board, Ms. Gaines currently serves on its brand safety council. Previously, she served on the organization's measurement council, helping to appoint Nielsen as the official digital measurement standard for the continent. She is also a member of the ABA Digital Watchdog Committee. Ms. Gaines is an active speaker at industry events and has earned numerous awards including MFA Online Representative of the Year, Internet Dream Team winner, Mindshare Interactive Salesperson of the Year and Yahoo! Global Superstar.
Ms. Gaines attended Sydney Technical College and College of Applied Psychology, completing a Bachelor of Social Science degree with a major in management. A native of Sydney, she resides with her partner and two daughters. She is a yoga enthusiast and enjoys running and walking through the bush with her one year old border collie as well as running half marathons. Her more cerebral pastimes include reading psychology literature and writing short stories. In addition, she makes time to do volunteer work including school reading groups and Doggie Rescue.
