STOCKBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, a distinguished field leader in yoga education, today announced the launch of their 1,000-hour yoga teacher training – the first training of its kind to offer teachings from a breadth and depth of yoga traditions. As the American university of yoga, Kripalu has brought together some of the world's top teachers and thought leaders to provide a diverse and inclusive educational journey through transformative facets of yoga. The program is a series of courses offering an elective curriculum that allows students to choose their own learning path and design a training that suits their needs, along with the needs of their students or community.
"The Kripalu 1,000-hour training provides a framework that is both inclusive and true to the common values of the yoga community," said Jill Bauman, Vice President of Strategy and Growth at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. "More than half of yoga teachers continue their education beyond baseline certifications, and we want to support those students who are continuing to strive for depth and excellence by increasing training levels and raising standards."
The 1,000-hour yoga teacher training features master teachers from a variety of lineages, schools, and traditions including Ana Forrest, Rolf Gates, Shiva Rea, and Elena Brower. The training also includes specialized programs intended to support teachers who are serving students at every stage of life's journey— and those working with a variety of special conditions like trauma-sensitive yoga, and yoga for seniors. Some of the 1000-hr programs include:
- Dharma Yoga Intensive: Unleashing Psychic Forces, with Dharma Mittra
- Inner Flow: The Art of Sequencing Vinyasa, with Shiva Rea
- The 8 Limbs of Yoga, with Rolf Gates
- The Presence of a Teacher, with Hari Kirin Khalsa and Ajeet Kaur
- The Language of Yoga: Sanskrit and Mantra Immersion, with Nicolai Bachman
All of the training programs are held at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. To enroll, students are required to have a minimum of two years' experience practicing yoga, and have successfully completed a 300- or 500- hour yoga teacher training program from a Yoga Alliance-registered school.
"The 1000-hour yoga teacher training is part of Kripalu's commitment to delivering extraordinary education to all students of yoga—especially those pursuing depth training. Our vision for this training is to establish field leadership in order to help strengthen and elevate yoga teaching as a profession," said Micah Mortali, Director of Kripalu Schools at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. "We believe that the program will leave graduates well-positioned to thrive professionally, and will inspire them to bring new wisdom back to their students and communities."
