Kraft Foods Launches Wacky Wellness Program
Focus on fun, high-tech, and social networking maximizes engagement and "Sonic Successes"
CHICAGO, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wacky wellness works … and that's why Kraft Foods has selected wacky Southern California-based Sonic Boom Wellness to implement a high-energy, innovative new wellness program company-wide. With a multi-faceted platform capitalizing on social networking, engaging games, and high-tech devices, Sonic Boom's out-of-the-box approach generates and sustains exceptionally high engagement and "Sonic Success Stories" galore.
The program kicked off in energetic fashion at Kraft headquarters in Chicago. Driven by a personal commitment to health and wellness, Kraft CEO Tony Vernon spoke passionately at the event. In addition to rallying the troops, he made a commitment to walk the walk—setting a corporate example by using his SonicPed to track his own activity and keep him on target with personal wellness goals. Kraft wants to give employees every resource possible to improve lifestyles and ultimately get more out of life. So, after testing the water with other more traditional wellness efforts, Kraft summoned Sonic Boom's dynamic approach to get people motivated and keep people energized.
With the program just one week underway, Kraft Senior Director of Benefits Kathy McAlpine commented, "It's amazing to me that the people who usually sit on the sidelines with wellness initiatives are actually engaged in this!" She continued, "It's also great to see that we have at least as many men participating as we do women … they're usually not eager to get involved in wellness, but they're definitely enjoying Sonic Boom."
Just one day after the company kick-off event, Sonic Boom already achieved 25% engagement, and that number is rising quickly. Sonic Boom expects that number to double and even grow from there within the next month or so. "Our program is viral. One person explores and starts to play, and right away others want to join in," said Danna Korn, Sonic Boom Chief Energizing Officer (CEO) and co-founder. "We haven't even started with the really fun stuff yet! Just wait till we get a Sonic Striding contest underway!"
Sonic Boom focuses on helping people improve daily health habits. While most "gamey" wellness companies employ only physical activity, Sonic Boom engages a broader approach, including activity, nutrition, stress reduction, and improved morale and productivity. A fancy gadget affectionately referred to as a SonicPed tracks all activity, including non-impact such as biking or swimming, and wirelessly beams the data to members' personal sites. Competition is king with Boomers, and games are generated company-wide or by members, limited only by one's imagination.
Kraft has a complex incentive-management system automated by the Sonic Boom platform. Four different incentive structures are available, depending upon members' eligibility.
"Kraft isn't our biggest client, but it's one of our most widely recognized," said Korn. "We're honored to have been selected by Kraft, and intend to dazzle them for years to come!"
About Sonic Boom Wellness: Sonic Boom Wellness is an innovative, energetic corporate wellness program specializing in improving people's daily health habits. With an engaging software platform and high-tech activity trackers, Sonic Boom essentially "gamifies" wellness, capitalizing on fun, social networking, competition, peer pressure, and well-designed incentive programs. Averaging 60-90% engagement, Sonic Boom distinguishes itself from other "gamey" competitors by having more programs (one-size wellness doesn't fit all), and by leveraging its serious side. Fun and games are great, but Sonic Boom also delivers sophisticated incentive management—integrating biometrics, health assessments, and data from any other vendor to create an automated platform that attaches meaningful incentives such as healthcare premiums, PTO, wellness credits, or other currencies to daily activities and significant achievements.
