KPMG to Host Series of TaxWatch Webcasts on "Tax in the Cloud"
Programs to Provide Insight on Tax Implications of Cloud-based Commerce
NEW YORK, June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, will host a series of TaxWatch webcasts over the next three months to help companies better understand the potential tax risks and opportunities of doing business in the cloud. The initial webcast in the summer series, "A Primer on the Tax Implications of Cloud Computing," is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (EDT).
During the June 13 webcast, KPMG Tax and Advisory leaders will explain various cloud models, explore through case studies how individual companies are successfully using the cloud to transform their businesses; and provide a high-level overview of the potential tax issues and opportunities related to these case studies.
Tax, finance, information technology and other business professionals interested in participating in the webcast panel discussion can register here. The webcast series is part of KPMG's TaxWatch events designed to keep tax professionals updated on recent industry developments and trends.
"The cloud has become a key priority for many business leaders as the discussion has moved far beyond just technology," said Steven Fortier, principal-in-charge of KPMG's U.S. Tax in the Cloud initiative, who will be among the panelists on the webcast.
"With the cloud computing market expected to soar by the billions in the coming years, a wide range of companies have incentive to consider changing their business models to support cloud-based commerce," Fortier added. "Our webcast series will offer insight into the critical elements of cloud to better facilitate long-term success and sustainable advantages for businesses."
Others from KPMG, in addition to Fortier, who will share their insights will include:
- Tom Lamoureux, principal, National Advisory Sector leader, Software and Electronics;
- Brett Weaver, tax partner, International Corporate Services practice;
- Rick Wright, advisory partner, Information Technology Strategy and Performance practice, and leader of the firm's Global Cloud Enablement program.
Upcoming webcasts will provide an in-depth focus on various federal, state, local and international tax issues facing companies that are doing business in the cloud.
