Kimora Lee Simmons and Bounty are Headed to Bonne Terre, Missouri for a $50,000 Fabulous School Makeover
Bounty's Nationwide Clean Up Effort Reaches More Than 1,500 Schools
CINCINNATI, April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A fully fabulous $50,000 classroom spring cleaning session is coming to North St. Francois County High School in Bonne Terre, MO this May when Style Network's "Life in the Fab Lane" star and mother of three, Kimora Lee Simmons pulls into town with Procter & Gamble's (NYSE: PG) Bounty brand. As the grand prize winner in Bounty's "Fabulous School Makeover" Sweepstakes, the North St. Francois County High School community will see their learning environments become transformed into cleaner spaces full of "fabulosity" and added functionality by Kimora and her team.
The "Fabulous School Makeover" comes as an extension to Bounty's "We Love Our School" clean school initiative that launched in February 2011. After receiving more than 2,600 entries for the first school makeover, it was apparent more schools across the country could use some additional TLC this semester. In fact, according to a recent Bounty survey conducted by Wakefield Research Inc, 71 percent of teachers reported having to bring supplies from home to keep up with their cleaning duties in their classrooms at school.
"We were extremely excited when we were informed about the $50,000 Fabulous School Makeover from Bounty! Our students really do love coming to school each day and this makeover will only inspire them to be even more passionate about their education," said John Crabtree, Principal at North St. Francois County High School. "We're so excited to welcome Ms. Simmons back to her home state of Missouri and can't wait to see what she and her design team can come up with to transform this space into a new and improved learning environment."
"I am thrilled to be part of this school makeover, and I cannot wait to get down to North St. Francois County High School and begin the fabulous transformation," said Simmons. "Bounty is providing a great opportunity for a fresh learning space. I'm already imagining this to be a fun environment where the students will be able to learn, feel safe and feel eager to get to school every day."
The sweepstakes to enter the "Fabulous School Makeover" began March 31 by Kimora asking parents, teachers and community members to visit the Bounty Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Bounty) and enter their school to a $50,000 "classroom-couture" makeover. Once at the site, entrants were asked to take the Make a Clean Difference Pledge, promising to keep schools clean in their own communities and show their support of creative learning environments for children.
"As we learned from Bounty's survey of school teachers, 94 percent of elementary and middle teachers believe students learn better in clean classrooms. Given this knowledge and the overwhelming response to the first phase of the program, we were happy to extend our clean school initiative to more communities across the country in an effort to provide additional fun, clean and creative learning environments for our children," says Bounty Brand Manager, Dave Lee.
The first $50,000 classroom makeover from Bounty's "We Love Our School" campaign was completed on March 24 by HGTV design stars, Bob and Cortney Novogratz. To learn more about Bounty's school initiatives, visit www.Facebook.com/Bounty.
The Bounty "We Love Our School" Teacher Survey was conducted by Wakefield Research between January 26th and February 7th, 2011. For this research, 1,001 telephone interviews were fielded among American elementary and middle school teachers.
