KIDBOX Marks First Anniversary By Donating More Than $1.6 Million Worth Of New Clothing To Children In Need Through Delivering Good
Style box service with social mission to clothe one million kids continues to think inside and outside the box for opportunities with new #startsmall campaign
Company launches Kids Board of Directors to help further its connection with kids and foster the next generation of philanthropists
NEW YORK, Aug. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- KIDBOX, the first kids' style box offering premier brands, significant savings, and a mission to clothe one million children in need, announced today a $920,000 donation of brand new children's clothing, bringing the total of KIDBOX donations to $1.6 million since the company's inception last summer through its partnership with Delivering Good, formerly K.I.D.S/Fashion Delivers.
KIDBOX was founded with a social mission at its core. For every box kept, a new item of premier brand clothing is donated to a child in need. After each purchase of a full box, customers select a charity of their choice for donation which rotates each season, including organizations that support foster children, military families, children affected by natural disasters, and more. These organizations receive product donations via Delivering Good, a nonprofit with 900 community partners across the US that connects companies in the fashion, home, and children's industries with charities for product donations.
"Social responsibility is a key element of our business and has been since day one as our founder Haim Dabah has been on the board of Delivering Good for over a decade and founded KIDBOX as a mission-driven company," said Miki Berardelli, KIDBOX CEO. "Also, we've heard from our customers that because of the KIDBOX shopping experience in which kids and their parents select the charity that receives their donation, parents are having conversations with their kids about the importance of giving back sooner than they would have otherwise. Based on this feedback, we are launching a 'start small' movement, with the goal of empowering children at a younger age to give back and make an impact within their communities."
KIDBOX kicked off the 'start small' movement with its recently appointed Kids Board of Directors, an impressive group of 10 student volunteer interns between the ages of 6-14 from Kansas City, KS, River Forest, IL, Sycamore, IL, Watkinsville, GA, Los Angeles, CA, Montclair, NJ and New York City, NY, who have demonstrated leadership and passion for social good and have an interest in fashion. The kids will meet quarterly and serve on the board for a one-year term. During the Kids Board kick off, the children visited Children of Promise NYC, a Brooklyn-based organization that supports children with incarcerated parents. Looking ahead, the kids will influence the direction of the company on various preferences, including which charitable organizations should be considered for receiving KIDBOX donations, how to enhance the customer experience, and which brands should be added to the KIDBOX assortment.
"We truly value our partnership with KIDBOX as both of our companies share a common mission of spreading awareness about the importance of philanthropy and helping those less fortunate than us," said Lisa Gurwitch, President and CEO of Delivering Good. "We look forward to continuing this relationship and celebrating with KIDBOX when the company hits its next major milestone."
