SALT LAKE CITY, April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelly Murdock, a 25-year veteran in the municipal finance industry, joined George K. Baum & Company ("GKB") as a Senior Vice President on April 24, 2017. He plans to use his extensive experience with a variety of municipal issuers in the State of Utah and the Intermountain West to complement GKB's Utah practice.

During his career, Mr. Murdock has served as lead banker and municipal advisor to some of the largest issuers in the State of Utah, and has worked on more than $5 billion of tax-exempt, taxable and variable-rate municipal transactions for a variety of issuers. He has also served as underwriter or municipal advisor for several higher education institutions, including the University of Utah where he assisted the institution with the issuance of more than $1 billion in revenue bond offerings.

Prior to becoming an investment banker, Mr. Murdock served in several key staff positions on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., for both United States Senator Orrin G. Hatch and Congressman James V. Hansen. During his years in Washington, D.C., Mr. Murdock also worked as Director of the State of Utah's Washington, D.C. office, serving as a member of the Utah Governor's staff and as a key liaison between the State of Utah, the Utah Congressional Delegation and the federal government. Mr. Murdock holds a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communications from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration degree from George Washington University.
