Katherine Hamilton Joins Quinn Gillespie & Associates
WASHINGTON, Jan. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Quinn Gillespie & Associates (QGA) announced today that Katherine Hamilton has been named a director at the firm. Katherine will take a leading role in providing senior government relations and strategic counsel to the firm's growing clean energy and environment practice.
"Katherine will bring a wealth of knowledge, perspective, and leadership experience to the team at QGA," said Patrick Von Bargen, Managing Director of QGA. "Already an established and trusted voice in the clean tech community and among relevant policymakers, there is no doubt that Katherine will help to bring the clean tech practice to a whole new level."
Katherine joins QGA after serving as the first full time president of the GridWise Alliance, an organization committed to transforming the electric grid to achieve a sustainable energy future, spanning from 2008 to 2011. Under Katherine's leadership, the GridWise Alliance more than doubled its membership and budget, and the organization became a central player in the national conversation about modernizing electric grid. Prior to that, Katherine worked as a policy advisor for Good Energies, Inc., a private investment company with a $6 billion clean energy technology portfolio, and as co-director of the American Bioenergy Association, where she worked with stakeholders to advance biomass technologies.
"I am honored and excited to join such a highly respected team of energy policy experts at QGA," Katherine said. "The deep and varied resources the firm has to offer will create synergy with my experience in renewables, energy efficiency and smart grid, producing a win-win for our growing clean tech client base."
Katherine's years of experience in the private sector have strengthened her insight and expertise on the potential of a clean energy economy. As President of her company, The Hamilton Group, Katherine advocated for organizations such as the Union of Concerned Scientists, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Midwest Research Institute to lobby Congress and statehouses on various clean energy policies and funding.
Additionally, Katherine's years of experience in the clean technology sector include her work at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) – where she served as Manager of Government relations, becoming an expert witness on renewable energy for the House Committee on Science and serving as an advisor to Vice President Cheney's Task Force in developing the national energy plan – as well as in various roles with Virginia Power (now Dominion Energy) where she focused on commercial energy efficiency.
Katherine is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Paris, Sorbonne.
