Kargo Hires Marketing Veteran Terri Walter As Chief Marketing Officer
Mobile advertising company also adds senior creative executive to strengthen brand as it continues strong growth trajectory
NEW YORK, June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kargo, the leader in mobile brand advertising, today announced its first Chief Marketing Officer, Terri Walter. Terri will lead Kargo's marketing organization to define and drive the growth of Kargo's visibility in the marketplace. She will report to Ryan McConville, chief operating officer.
"Terri is a sophisticated marketer who knows our industry and understands the importance of brand storytelling," said Founder & CEO, Harry Kargman. "She is joining us at a unique moment of unprecedented growth and will guide the expanding visibility of the Kargo brand. We are thrilled to have her aboard."
According to Mary Meeker's Internet trends report just released, mobile Internet usage is fast on the rise – up 23% year-over-year. This presents a huge opportunity for advertising: eMarketer forecasts 2015 mobile advertising spending will increase more than 60% from last year and that mobile spend will account for more than half of all digital advertising in 2016.
"We've built Kargo into a thriving business by setting a higher standard for mobile advertising," said Kargman. "As the market focuses on mobile efficacy, creativity and viewability, now is the perfect time for us to tell our story and fortify our position as leaders."
Walter joins Kargo from PubMatic, where she served as CMO. Prior to PubMatic, she was global brand director for Microsoft Advertising where she led branding and re-positioning efforts for the business. She was also previously an executive with global digital agency Razorfish, where she helped build the agency's award winning mobile and emerging media capabilities.
In addition to Walter, the company has hired Theresa Gaffney as vice president, creative director. She joins from Meredith where she was executive creative director for the company's digital arm. Before Meredith, she held a senior creative role with Conde Nast. At Kargo, Gaffney will oversee the Kargo voice and creative vision across both its marketing programs and ad products. She will report to Walter.
Both Walter and Gaffney began with the company in May.
