Karen Cator, U.S. Department Of Education, Hosts Panel Discussion With MOUSE Squad Students at ISTE
MOUSE Squad of the Year winners announced; Student projects showcased
NEW YORK, June 27, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MOUSE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students with technology and leadership skills, will participate in a panel discussion featuring Karen Cator, Director of the Office of Education Technology, U.S. Department of Education, during the 2011 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) annual conference.
Cator, an Obama appointee, will moderate a panel of MOUSE students from urban high schools representing the national MOUSE network in a discussion about school technology integration. The session, titled Student Voices: Effective Tech and Media Integration in Public Schools, will provide student insights about innovations that enhance learning and highlight the impact and effectiveness of technology integration. The panel will take place on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the PACC Building Room 108.
MOUSE is also pleased to announce that is has selected P.S. Q256 as "MOUSE Squad of the Year," recognizing their significant contributions to their school and a project they created to help students with special needs to become expert technicians. MOUSE students from Hudson High School of Learning Technologies were named "Best New MOUSE Squad of the Year" and will be presenting at the ISTE Conference. The grand prize for the MOUSE "D.I.Y. Competition" was awarded to the CHIPS Squad at KIPP Summit Academy in San Lorenzo, CA, for their video tutorial demonstrating how to use Microsoft Security Essentials.
In addition to the Student Panel, MOUSE students will participate in the Student Showcase at the ISTE Conference in the PACC Broad St. Atrium at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, where they will present projects that help their schools and communities collaborate, co-create, and purposefully use digital technologies.
