JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa Launches New Package To Encourage Photo Enthusiasts To Capture Desert Getaway
Seasonal package from luxury Palm Desert Resort includes hand-held, Bluetooth-enabled 'selfie stick' and guide to resort's most photo-inspiring locations and amenities
PALM DESERT, Calif., Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa invites guests to hone the art of the "selfie," offering a specialty package capturing photo-worthy moments created throughout the vibrant, 450-acre luxury Palm Desert resort.
Inspired by the resort's picturesque setting and the rise of the popular meme, the Your Spring Selfie Package includes:
- Overnight accommodations for two
- A Bluetooth enabled, self-portrait monopod — aka "selfie stick" — featuring an extendable hand-held pole and phone cradle that syncs with a mobile device
- A map of the property marking designated "selfie spots" with stunning scenery, ideal lighting and optimal angles
- A $50 per night resort credit
"We often found guests struggling to take that perfect group or panoramic photo while also including the stunning views that we have here at the resort," said Ralph Scatena, general manager of one of the premier Palm Desert resorts. "So instead of guests choosing between the mountains, palm trees or their smiling faces, we saw the selfie stick as an ideal solution for taking those quintessential shots and still being a part of the picture. It's the first of many new initiatives that are set to make our resort a summer playground in the desert."
Guests are encouraged to utilize the selfie stick and share their adventure with hashtags including #SpringSelfie, #DesertSprings, #DesertPlayground and #HaveItAll. Each month, the luxury Palm Desert resort will select a winning Instagram selfie stick post and offer a complimentary room upgrade for the winner's next visit. Examples of "selfie spots" include the Mikado landing dock set against the cascading backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains, various waterway bridges that dot the lush fairways of the property's two championship 18-hole golf courses, and the lakeside fire pits at the Rockwood Grill patio, where guests can enjoy live music al fresco and catch a cameo from the property's resident swans.
This package debut is a pre-cursor to the launch of a fresh lineup of summer happenings geared toward an energetic traveler. From poolside pop-up food booths and live entertainment to an upgraded nightlife experience at Costa's, the on-site lounge, the Palm Desert resort near Palm Springs is reimagining the summer getaway experience.
The Spring Selfie Package is available for bookings from March 1 through May 31, 2015. Rates start at $399 per night for standard rooms and can be booked at www.IndulgeYourSelfie.com or by calling 1-760-341-2211 and using promotional code P51.
