Junior's Cheesecake Is Looking for the Next Great Flavor to Celebrate its 60th Anniversary
NEW YORK, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- This year, Junior's Restaurant, home of the world's most famous cheesecakes, will celebrate its 60th birthday with an exciting national contest for the next great flavor of its award-winning cheesecake. The Next Great Junior's Cheesecake Flavor Recipe Contest will kick off at the original Junior's location in Brooklyn, NY – at the corner of Cheesecake Corner and Harry Rosen Way – on National Cheesecake Day, July 30th. Philadelphia® Cream Cheese, a registered trademark of KRAFT FOODS, is partnering with Junior's Restaurant.
On that day, Junior's will offer customers slices of its mouth-watering New York-style cheesecake for only 60 cents in honor of the restaurant's 60th anniversary. In addition, customers who purchase a lunch or dinner entree at the Brooklyn location will get a free slice of the famous original cheesecake.
With dozens of delicious flavors from Original Plain, Red Velvet, and best-selling Strawberry to Pumpkin, Tiramisu, and ever popular Chocolate Swirl, Junior's wants to be sure the new flavor meets the gold standard provided in every bite of its velvety smooth New York cheesecakes.
Contest submissions may be made online at www.juniorscheesecake.com, via mail, and at any of the four Junior's locations in Brooklyn, Times Square, Grand Central Terminal – all in New York City – and MGM Foxwoods in Connecticut.
A panel of distinguished judges, including boldface names and longtime Junior's Cheesecake lovers, will narrow the field to three finalists who will be invited to a bake-off at the Brooklyn location on November 7, the actual 60th anniversary date. Junior's opened on Election Day in 1950.
The Next Great Junior's Cheesecake Recipe Contest winner will be announced at the bake-off. The winner will receive a $1,800 prize and have his or her cheesecake featured at Junior's Restaurant for a limited time. Portions of the proceeds from the winning cheesecake sales will also be donated to a selected charity.
Third generation owner Alan Rosen says, "We've been creating cheesecakes for the past 60 years, and we've been doing it right. It's time for us to pass the mixer to America and see what amazing recipes they can pull out from their ovens."
"We're proud to be part of Junior's great-tasting cheesecakes," says Adam Butler, Brand Manager, Philadelphia® Cream Cheese. "We wish Junior's a happy 60th anniversary and look forward to tasting the winning recipe."
Junior's cheesecakes have been voted the world's best by critics and numerous media outlets including "Good Morning America," "Today," The New York Times, New York Daily News, Crain's, and Conde Nast Traveler. It's also favored among millions of every day New Yorkers, as well as boldface names such as Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jay-Z, Mel Brooks, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.
