LOS ANGELES, March 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Of the 31 percent of Americans pulling a prank this April Fools' Day, 47 percent are planning to spend cash on their joke of choice, according to the latest GOBankingRates survey.

The survey, conducted using Survata, asked more than 1,000 U.S. citizens from all 50 states a series of questions to reveal not only how much people plan to spend on their mischief this year, but also who will be at the butt of the joke.
Who will be pranked this year?
- Family — 44%
- Friends — 39%
- Significant Other — 26%
- Coworkers — 17%
- Bosses — 7%
Additional Insights:
- Of those planning to invest in their prank, 73% plan to spend $24.99 or less
- While those aged 65 and above are the most likely to spend $75 or more on their prank this year, people aged 55-64 will spend the least, with 64% planning to spend nothing at all
- Those aged 18-24 are the only group more likely to target friends than family
- More than half of men are willing to spend money on their prank, compared to only 38 percent of women
Methodology: Survey conducted by Survata, an independent research firm. Survata interviewed 1,023 adults ages 18 and older from March 3, 2017, to March 7, 2017. No monetary compensation was given.
