John Wall Debuts His First adidas Signature Basketball Shoe In New Foot Locker Commercial
Latest 'Approved' Spot Features the J Wall 1, Available Exclusively at Foot Locker
NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Foot Locker, Inc. (NYSE: FL), the New York-based specialty athletic retailer, today debuted its latest commercial featuring NBA star John Wall and his first adidas signature basketball shoe, the J Wall 1, available exclusively at Foot Locker. The latest ad breaks with the start of the NBA season and is part of Foot Locker's series of "Approved" commercials.
"Getting your name on a shoe and starring in your own TV commercial is something you dream about as a kid," said Washington Wizards point guard John Wall. "It's a blessing to be part of this and I hope everyone has as much fun watching this commercial as we had shooting it."
The new spot, dubbed "The Process," opens with Wall's friend complimenting his new adidas basketball shoe from Foot Locker, asking, "All part of the process, right?" After Wall indicates he's not familiar with "The Process," the friend goes on to describe it – landing a signature shoe, making a championship run, marrying "the girl," settling into a mansion, having your jersey number retired, and finally opening a sports bar.
Wall seems intrigued before the friend amusingly shifts direction, telling him that all of these achievements will result in complacency – eventually leading him to lose everything. The ultimate result, Wall's friend tells him, will be starring in local-area car dealership ads, complete with a cheesy "pick-and-roll" joke.
A befuddled Wall stares blankly and says, "That is not going to happen." His friend declares, "But then, you drop your retro at Foot Locker." Wall agrees, closing the spot by confirming that dropping a retro at Foot Locker will be part of "The Process."
