John Hancock Named a Top Overall Winner by the American Business Awards for 2012
Placed Second in 'Best of ABA' point system for new Stevie® award
BOSTON, Oct. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- John Hancock was one of the top overall winners in the "Best of the American Business Awards" for 2012, after sweeping several categories at the annual awards event in June. Announcing a new "Stevie®" award for 2012, the American Business Awards said that John Hancock earned 36 award points in the 2012 ABAs, earning second place in the Top Ten. John Hancock was the only financial services company in the top ten rankings this year.
In June, John Hancock swept the category of Customer Service Team of the Year, Financial Services, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the ABA event in New York City. John Hancock Annuities took the Gold for Best Customer Service Team, while John Hancock's transfer agency, John Hancock Signature Services (JHSS), won Silver for its complaint response team, and John Hancock Annuities won Bronze for its annuity claims team. In addition, JHSS took home Silver in two categories – Most Innovative Company of the Year (up to 2,500 employees), and Business Innovation of the Year. John Hancock Fund Administration (JHFA) won Silver in the Support Department of the Year category. John Hancock also won numerous Bronze awards in a variety of categories, including for John Hancock Funds' Portfolio Insight tool, which was honored for Best Software Programming/Design.
"We were pleased to congratulate our many talented teams on receiving these important awards last June. Adding the 'Best of the ABA' award is yet another recognition of their accomplishments. We remain very proud of our teams' dedication to consistently providing excellent service to our customers," said Charles A. Rizzo, President of John Hancock Signature Services.
"Recognition from the American Business Awards is a great achievement for our associates, while also recognizing our dedication and ongoing commitment to our policyholders," said John Hatch, Vice President, John Hancock Annuities & Fixed Products.
The American Business Awards honor a spectrum of American business people and organizations, from non-profits, emerging start-ups, major public companies and government agencies, to corner-office executives, product developers, marketers and web development teams. Nominees in The 2012 American Business Awards were not able to apply for the Best of the ABA Awards directly. Winners were determined by a point system based on the total number of awards won in the ABAs, with a Gold Stevie Award win counting for 3 points, each Silver Stevie Award for 2 points, and each Bronze Stevie win counting for 1.5 points. More than 3,000 entries were submitted to The 2012 American Business Awards and more than 270 executives nationwide participated in judging to determine this year's Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners, who were honored during ceremonies in June in New York and September in San Francisco.
