John Glenn Gymnasium at Muskingum University, New Concord, Ohio, Was Lighted Last Friday and Will Remain Lighted Through the End of December
NEW CONCORD, Ohio, Dec. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- John Glenn Gymnasium, named in 1962 to honor Muskingum University's distinguished alumnus and trustee, is lighted in tribute throughout the rest of December.
The New Concord, Ohio, campus was the site last Thursday of "A Call to Service: A Remembrance," which commemorated a pivotal day, December 7, 1941, in the lives of John Glenn and his wife, Annie Castor. That day, the young couple decided that Glenn would leave college and join the Marines and a life of public service.
Senator Glenn, 95, died in Columbus, Ohio, a few hours after Muskingum's December 8th event.
