"Ninety percent of our customers are women," said Tim Matthews, CEO of JTV, "and coincidentally, ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. We view our support of this movement as an opportunity to ignite passion among the millions of women who shop with us. JTV wants women everywhere to make it their mission to fight heart disease and our network has the national reach to help get the message out."
The "Love Your Heart" initiative begins on February 1, 2013 and includes the following elements:
- JTV will "Go Red For Women" for 24 hours on Friday, February 1st encouraging viewers to make it their mission to tell 5 women you want them to live, and we can help stop heart disease in our lifetime.
- JTV is releasing an exclusive "Love Your Heart" jewelry collection that features a gorgeous sterling silver Mahaleo ruby pendant, ring, earrings, and bracelet encrusted in white topaz to remind women to make it their mission to fight heart disease.
- Customers will be offered the opportunity to contribute financially to help fund important research and educational programs for the Go Red For Women movement. For customers contributing $5 or more, JTV will issue a $5 credit toward a future purchase.
- JTV is contributing money as well as valuable airtime and other media resources in support of the Go Red For Women movement.
"It is staggering to think that heart disease is still the number one killer of women age 20 and over, killing approximately one woman every minute," said Tim Matthews, CEO of JTV. "If the Love Your Heart initiative saves one life, we will have used our platform for reaching millions of women effectively," he said.
