Jeppesen Introduces FliteDeck Pro EFB Features For iPad And Windows Tablets
Airlines using iOS 9 and Windows 10-based tablets now have a common user experience
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeppesen, a part of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, now offers airline, military and large business aviation operators an enhanced version of its FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag (EFB) solution that is compliant with iOS 9 and Windows 10 operating systems. The new version of FliteDeck Pro now features a shared user experience across both system platforms, providing greater freedom of choice with EFB tablet solutions.
"For the first time, operators using Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro will be able to simultaneously use iPad and Windows-based tablets that feature the same powerful capabilities," said Alex Zakroff, vice president, Jeppesen Navigation Solutions. "By maintaining close working relationships with our customers, we understand choice is a very important factor in decision making. We now offer flexibility for choosing the EFB platform environment that best suits their operational needs."
In addition to a uniform, shared experience across iPad and Windows tablets, the new FliteDeck Pro version also delivers several new capabilities to increase operational efficiency. Among the changes, airlines and other operators now have the ability to send company information directly to FliteDeck Pro as "customer inserted charts" and have it available for EFB use immediately, instead of waiting for the next data cycle update. This ability to augment Jeppesen charts with company information in nearly real time provides increased flexibility for same-day airline operations.
Another new highly-requested capability enables importing routes from multiple data sources, including flight planning systems and third party apps, to provide the right information to the pilot at the right time in support of flight preparation and execution.
Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro streamlines the use of digital navigational information for airlines and other qualified operators, including terminal charts and data-driven enroute content. Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro also enables significant weight savings and reduced fuel consumption with removal of paper content.
Jeppesen's EFB ecosystem is further enabled by a data distribution solution that sends data sets and configuration settings to flight crews which are tailored for their fleet type and operating specifications. Jeppesen's data distribution solution is unique in the industry by providing the fastest data updates (most within a few minutes) from the aviation industry's largest aeronautical database.
More than 650 airline operators use Jeppesen navigation and flight optimization solutions worldwide, and more than 15 million flights have been completed using Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro for paperless navigation.
