Broadcast advertising is now a $16 billion market in the United States and worth $40 billion globally, according to PricewaterhouseCooper's 14th Annual Global Entertainment and Media Outlook.
"With almost four trillion radio ads delivered every year, radio is one of the largest advertising mediums, similar in scale to digital display advertising. However, unlike digital, radio has not seen the same investment in ad-tech innovation to buy, manage and serve these ads," said Mike Dougherty, Jelli co-founder and chief executive officer. "We've worked for nearly five years to introduce technology that helps terrestrial radio become a 21st century medium, leading to RadioSpot, a totally new release of our platform that gives radio stations, networks and advertisers the easiest and fastest way to buy and run ads."
Until now radio stations, networks and advertisers have had to use a decades-old process to buy and run national radio ads. A typical network radio campaign requires trafficking ads across hundreds of individual stations, resulting in a cumbersome accounting process and paper format reports that require planners and buyers to go back months after a campaign is over to evaluate how the ads have driven sales. Jelli has created a hassle-free way for marketers to move into programmatic buying with its platform and help unlock new revenue opportunities for the radio industry.
RadioSpot™ Ad Server
Jelli's patented RadioSpot technology significantly increases efficiency, accountability and transparency for broadcast radio advertising instantly serving ads on radio stations across the country, thereby leading to fewer errors, lower costs, better insights and higher revenue and cash flow. RadioSpot is integrated with advanced buying and planning tools and supports all major third-party broadcast traffic systems.
RadioDash™ Campaign Dashboard
Jelli's new campaign dashboard called RadioDash™ provides stations, networks and advertisers detailed insights for ad campaigns in real-time and instant validation of spots running on broadcast radio. The real-time web application dashboard delivers essential data such as when commercials ran and what markets the ads played in, and gives dashboard users the ability to listen to playback on every station. Users also have the ability to export data for easy integration and analysis to increase return on investment and speed payments.
"Technologies like Jelli will enable radio to strengthen its position with national advertisers at a time of increasing competition from digital media where data retrieval is an increasingly critical part of media selection," said Natalie Swed Stone, U.S. Director of National Radio Investment at OMD.
RadioSpot is now deployed at more than 350 radio stations in 128 cities nationwide, growing from 68 stations in 31 cities in just 12 months. This growth has been achieved through partnerships forged over the past 12 months with major radio operators and networks including Townsquare Media, Entercom, Emmis owned WQHT-FM (HOT 97) in New York City, Sun Broadcast Group, Focus 360 and others. RadioSpot now reaches 44 million unique listeners weekly and manages approximately 4 billion radio ads on an annual run-rate basis.
Jason Bailey, CEO of Sun Broadcast Group said, "Jelli brings radio into the 21st century and solves many issues that have held back network radio. RadioSpot allows us to tap into new programmatic ad dollars, which are already a major part of the digital advertising marketplace."
"Jelli transforms the network radio market giving us the tools to better compete in today's ad marketplace," said Phil Brown, CEO of Focus 360. "With marketers moving so quickly to programmatic buying, the RadioSpot platform ensures that radio will be included in the planning mix for this new generation of ad buyers."
