Initiated in May 2010 by downtown Tucson merchants and businesses, 2nd Saturdays has become one of Tucson's largest and most popular monthly events. To ensure that 2nd Saturdays will continue to thrive in 2011, new sponsors including Jim Click Automotive, MEB Property Management, Hollis Graphics, Cox Communications and Wells Fargo Bank have joined founding sponsor, Providence Service Corporation.
Street musicians, vendors, dancers and other performers will again line Congress and local side streets in January. Downtown merchants will be offering discounts and many clubs will be featuring live music. The 2nd Saturdays favorite Five Way Street will headline the outdoor Scott Avenue Stage from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. along with Mirror Image, AZ Daily Star's 2008 Battle of the Bands winner, from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Deceptively Innocent from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Downtown museums have also joined together for a Museum Passport Promotion. Simply visit The Children's Museum, Southern Arizona Transportation Museum or the Museum of Contemporary Art during the event and pick up a Museum Passport, which can be redeemed for a free desert at Hotel Congress.
