For the duration of April 2014 Gallerie Sparta will exhibit 12 of Dr. Jack Kevorkian's remaining original oil paintings for sale. 18 Paintings were created by Dr. Kevorkian during his life and were originally housed at the Alma Museum in Boston. Along with the 12 original oils, the Assisted Suicide Machine called the "Thanatron" will also be displayed and for sale to the highest bidder.
The notorious Dr. Kevorkian, famous for shining the world spotlight on the 9th amendment rights of the terminally ill, was also an acclaimed artist, author, musical composer, and inventor. Seven of his books have been published, he held more than 20 scientific patents, his Organ compositions were nominated for a Grammy, and he was also nominated for a Nobel Prize. Until his last days he continued to uphold the right of each American to choose the timing of their own death. He served eight years in prison for refusing to halt his work with the terminally ill. Just prior to starting his long sentence he was the 2nd most recognizable person in the world, just behind the President of the United States.
"YOU DON'T KNOW JACK", a film inspired by the life and times of the infamous Doctor garnered both Golden Globe and Emmy Awards. Al Pacino received many honors for playing Dr. Kevorkian and Susan Sarandon and John Goodman co-starred in the film.
All remaining artifacts from the Kevorkian estate are to be gifted to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
