J. Levine Auction & Appraisal Hosts Annual "New Year's Day" Auction on Thurs., Jan. 1
High-end Auction Includes Jazz Legend George Benson's Grand Piano, Ancient Jade, Walt Disney Snow White Animation Cels, Fine Art and More
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the Southwest's largest auction houses, Scottsdale-based J. Levine Auction & Appraisal, will host its biggest auction of the year, the annual "New Year's Day" auction on Thurs., Jan. 1, 2015. During the year, the high-end auction house holds back the 'best of the best' rare antiques, fine art and more from affluent estates for this special event.
"Our New Year's Day auction features high caliber, museum-quality antiques – pieces you would not expect to see in Arizona -- along with an eclectic mix of collectibles," said Josh Levine, owner of J. Levine Auction & Appraisal.
Items expected to cause a bidding frenzy include:
- Jazz Legend George Benson's Grand Piano: Estimated value between $8,000 and $12,000. An autographed Black Samick Grand Piano.
- Anthony Quinn Sculpture: Estimated value between $6,000 and $8,000. This black marble statue was a gift of the artist, actor Anthony Quinn, to Jazz Legend George Benson.
- T.C. Steele Landscape Painting: Estimated value between $30,000 and $50,000. Theodore Clement Steele (1847 – 1926) was an American Impressionist painter.
- Ancient Jade Collection: With projected values that could reach more than $100,000, this breathtaking collection includes many rare examples of period White Jade.
- An Impressive Guitar Collection: Estimated value of more than $25,000. True musicians will cherish these hard-to-find Fender, Paul Reed Smith and Ibanez models.
- Original 1937 Walt Disney Snow White Animation Cels: Estimated value between $10,000 and $20,000. A large collection of more than 30 cels, or celluloid transparent sheets, that were used for hand-drawn or painted animation. The collection also includes Warner Brothers, Hanna Barbera and modern era Disney cels.
- Pro Football Hall of Fame NFL Football: Estimated value between $800 and $1,200. Signed by 11 Legends of the NFL during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Weekend August 2, 1985.
