According to Asad, "10 Reasons to Sell in China through Alibaba and Tmall" aims to address the gap in brand and US company knowledge regarding Alibaba and why it is destined to become such a vital e-commerce platform.
"If you've hesitated to market your product or services in China, it's time to reconsider your position," said Asad. "Not only does China represent more than one third of the world market, but e-commerce in this Asian powerhouse is growing exponentially."
In September 2014, Alibaba made its first significant appearance in American headlines when its IPO shattered world records and raised more than $25 billion. Founded by entrepreneur Jack Ma in 1999, Alibaba is the world's largest e-commerce marketplace and provides C2C, B2C and B2B sales services. The company also owns Tmall, which is similar to US Amazon.
Asad is a best-selling author of several social media marketing and e-commerce books, including Instant Profits with Alibaba and Instant Profits with Instagram. He developed the infographic as a way to discuss Alibaba and explain how Tmall can help United States-based sellers reach Chinese consumers.
"I noticed the lack of useful infographics about Alibaba despite the company's rapidly growing interest to the Western world," said Asad.
Tmall in particular can help Americans find new buyers in China thanks to its unique infrastructure, its use of Alipay payment option and Tmall's well-received mobile app. "Tmall is a serious competitor for the likes of eBay or Amazon," said Asad.
With 70,000 brands and 180 million buyers, Alibaba is larger than both Amazon and eBay. It is still growing thanks to China's high-speed e-commerce market, which is currently outpacing other emerging markets like Brazil and India.
E-commerce spending in China is expected to reach $400 billion in 2014. By 2020, China's e-commerce market is expected to be twice as large as the UK, the United States, Japan, Germany and France combined, with $1.847 billion in total revenue.
"It is a shame that many American entrepreneurs still don't understand why Alibaba is a great opportunity," said Asad. "My goal is to get the message across with this infographic."
