International companies team up to strengthen school performance
Students to benefit from content and assessment merger
ROCHESTER, Pa., April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lincoln Learning Solutions and Certica Solutions today announced they will fill an essential gap for schools and students by marrying top-notch curriculum content with effective monitoring and assessments.
"This is a dynamic partnership," Lincoln Learning Solutions President, Bob Clements, said. "While we are proud of the powerful, personalized curriculum we offer on its face, we know that teachers need to be able to monitor the progress of their students in order to recommend and execute proper intervention strategies. Certica and its Formative Assessment Item Bank provide that key."
The Formative Assessment Item Bank® is a repository of standards-aligned test items that enable educators to create customized assessments and provide flexibility to reflect a range of curricula and instructional methods.
Clements said the Certica partnership addresses an issue that often hampers curriculum providers, which is to not only offer curriculum content that is aligned to all standards, but also to address correlating assessments.
"We can now assist our clients in creating a more predictive, proactive approach to helping all students reach their potential; and that is, after all, what every family and every teacher truly wants for their children," Clements said.
Lincoln Learning Solutions Chief Academic Officer, John Theis, said that when his team initially began looking for a way to add an assessment component to its cache of services, it came up short until Certica came along.
Theis characterized Certica as "extremely focused on positive, constructive service, and having a well-organized, high-quality assessment item bank, and an educational philosophy that closely aligns with our own."
"The augmentation of our new curriculum will effectuate truly personalized learning at a very granular level," Theis said.
More than 11,000 students in approximately 180 school districts will have access to the bulk of the curriculum and assessment package, being able to take full advantage of the partnership when the 2016-17 school year begins.
"We are in the process of integrating the items from Certica's Formative Assessment Item Bank, and recently completed the Common Core subjects," Theis said, "so we are ready and eager to roll it out."
Certica's Executive Vice President of Partner Solutions, Matthew Doherty, said, "we are very pleased to welcome Lincoln Learning Solutions to our partner network and see the strong synergy between its personalized curriculum solutions and the Formative Assessment Item Bank; we look forward to supporting Lincoln Learning Solutions as it introduces this comprehensive and integrated offering."
In addition to benefitting thousands of students, Theis said there also exists a possibility for creating state-by-state, validated assessments for test preparation, summer boot camps, credit recovery, and remediation courses.
"This is yet another assurance that Lincoln Learn Solutions will provide personalized elementary, middle school, and high school solutions that help all students to own their learning as well as state and national standards," Clements said.
