Inspur Server Shipment Ranked No.4 in the World in the 2017H1 per Gartner
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The "2017Q2 Worldwide x86 Server Tracker" report recently released by Gartner shows that Inspur server shipment ranked fourth in the world in the first half of 2017 with a unit growth of 29.6%, making Inspur the fastest growing vendor in worldwide server shipments.
According to Gartner, "The second quarter of 2017 produced some growth compared with the first quarter on a global level, with varying regional results," said Jeffrey Hewitt, research vice president at Gartner. "The growth for the quarter is attributable to two main factors. The first is strong regional performance in Asia/Pacific because of data center infrastructure build-outs, mostly in China. The second is ongoing hyperscale data center growth that is exhibited in the self-build/ODM (original design manufacturer) segment.
The growth of Inspur server shipment mainly benefited from the growing procurement opportunities of internet operators. Inspur was the biggest supplier of ODCC rack scale servers by receiving a large number of orders from global leading internet enterprises, such as Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu, in the first half of 2017. According to Zhen Peng, Vice President of Inspur Group," Inspur is not only a solution provider, but also an important business partner to those internet operators. Inspur has built a unique JDM cooperation model, and work closely with those partners to understand their business operations and provide the right infrastructure and tech solutions to meet shifting demands. Inspur engineers help partners drive innovation and business transformation by increasing business agility, lowering costs, and reducing IT complexity. A good example of this JDM model is that Inspur and Baidu jointly launched an all-in-one ABC application at the ABC Summit, held in ShenZhen, Guangdong, in late May. This application primarily focuses on two AI computing scenarios: offline model training and online reasoning, and integrates various Inspur computing platforms, such as SR-AI Rack, NF5288M5(AGX-2) and GX4, with single-unit compute nodes supporting 2-64 heterogeneous accelerator cards. The machine supports popular deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, Caffe, CNTK and PaddlePaddle.
Pushing further the intelligent computing and global strategy, Inspur is currently a member of the world's top three open computing standard organizations: ODCC, OCP and OPEN19. Inspur promotes leading standards of the Chinese internet industry to overseas markets, and also brings leading overseas standards and technologies to China. The objective is to help accelerate the integration of various organizations and standards to effectively shorten standard settlement cycle, and to increase efficiency of open computing organizations. Inspur's SR Rack Scale Servers have been adopted large internet operators such as Alibaba and Baidu, accounting for more than 60% in the total shipments of rack scale servers in China. In the first half of 2017, Inspur's North America sever business experienced high growth, with the shipment growth by 336% year on year. In 2016, Inspur became a Platinum member of OCP (Open Computing Project), and had closer cooperation with large CSPs in the North America market. Inspur's ultra-high-density computing and storage solutions including NF5170 and NF5166, which are specially customized for North American CSPs, are now widely applied.
"CSPs and internet companies are Inspur's primary market. Inspur understands and has long been tracking internet users' demands and application trends; internet users represent the frontier of IT applications, and are at the forefront of the industry in the cloud computing, big data and AI fields. Through the JDM model, Inspur hopes to inspire and equip North American and overseas CSPs to foster digital transformation and to lead in today's marketplace of disruptive innovation." said Zhen Peng.
