WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Aside from the day to day business functions including strategic media placement and inbound marketing execution, the team at InspiriaMedia based in White Plains, NY has made it a priority to give back, via time and resources, to Westchester Putnam Workforce System, which includes a rapidly-growing online tool for job-seekers, business staffing and youth career information and services. Because of this ongoing dedication for the past five years or more, County Executives Robert Astorino & Maryellen Odell have jointly appointed InspiriaMedia CMO, Nick Simard to the Board at the recommendation of Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester.

Simard has been consistently active within Westchester County's ongoing initiative to revitalize the workforce and provide resources for individuals, businesses and young people, including working with County Executive, Rob Astorino, to launch the Hire Westchester program from the InspiriaMedia offices during the summer of 2014. Simard is now a board member and Vice Chair of the Performance and Accountability Committee. It is because of this background and dedication to the ongoing training of the workforce of the future, and InspiriaMedia's use of the toolkit to staff their own agency, that Simard was assigned to the WPWDD board.
"I attribute this honor to our success with job creation using the One-Stop Career Center programs," Simard commented. "I'm excited to work on job creation - it's a passion and we're facing such enormous challenges with skills gaps as a society."
Throughout the course of the past half-decade, Simard's efforts have contributed to the creation of a net five jobs in Westchester County with One-Stop Career Center funding assistance, as well as contributions on a State and Federal level from Westchester - Putnam Workforce Development Board (Donnovan Beckford, Executive Director). Recently, the Board received a $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) under its Ready to Work Partnership to help healthcare businesses in seven counties and the city of Yonkers identify and train long term unemployed individuals for hard to fill middle and high skilled healthcare jobs. The areas include: Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan Ulster & the city of Yonkers (Kirsten Gellibrand, United States Senator for New York).
With the continued focus on the Board's Three Year Strategic Plan for 2012-2015, and new initiatives being developed for 2016 and beyond, Simard's appointment to the Board will ensure that much-needed employment programs, resources and funding will continue to trickle down to the local level for support of Westchester County residents. His goal is to work closely with the teams to strategize, streamline efforts and improve the employment experience for all involved.
