INRIX Announces INRIX U.S. Freight Traffic Profiles
- INRIX U.S. Freight Traffic Profiles Helps Transportation Agencies Meet Requirements of MAP-21;
- Statistics Updated Monthly; Data Available From January 2010
KIRKLAND, Wash., Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- INRIX, the leading provider of traffic information and intelligent driver services, announced the most extensive nationwide archive of real-time freight traffic data available.
INRIX U.S. Freight Traffic Profiles provides transportation agencies statistics covering 450,000 centerline miles and 600,000 segments across the nation's interstates and expressways, state highways, and major arterial roads for use in freight system planning under the "Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act" (MAP-21).
"By creating a nationwide, uniform and timely picture of conditions for the trucking side of freight based on travel speeds, congestion and volumes, INRIX Freight Profiles provides agencies with an important tool for advancing efforts to move freight traffic more efficiently across our nation's road network," said Rick Schuman, INRIX Vice President and General Manager of Public Sector.
Recently enacted, MAP-21 includes several new programs and requirements that aim to improve national freight movement. The legislation sets forth new federal requirements for each state to create a State Freight Plan (Section 1118) and a plan to establish a National Freight Policy at the federal level (Section 1115).
INRIX U.S. Freight Profiles provides agencies with the average speed and travel time, percentiles, and failure rate statistics, along with the number of GPS data points used to generate each result, updated every month from the largest real-time GPS probe data network of freight vehicles in the country. Datasets are derived in 15 minute increments for each day of the week – 672 specific profiles for each road segment in each dataset.
INRIX U.S. Freight Traffic Profiles will be available in January 2013. Monthly data sets can be licensed dating back to January 2010. Annual data sets are available from 2010-2012. New data sets will be made available within 30 days of the conclusion of the previous month.
