inPractice and Southern African HIV Clinicians Society Announce Collaboration to Promote Evidence-Based HIV Education and Treatment in South Africa
RESTON, Va. and PRETORIA, South Africa, May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- inPractice® Resources today announced that it has partnered with the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society (SAHIVCS) to bring its revolutionary inPractice® Africa point-of-care reference and educational resource to more than 3,000 SAHIVCS members throughout South Africa.
SAHIVCS is a membership organization of HIV healthcare clinicians. The society's mission is to promote evidence-based, quality HIV healthcare across Southern Africa. inPractice® Africa is a unique online and offline digital platform that includes an innovative reference and learning resource designed and created to support South African clinicians in the management of HIV-infected patients. It is regularly updated and can be used both for structured training with CPD credit or to quickly search for answers to management questions at the point of care. It is available online and offline via the inPracticeAfrica.com Web site, an installable Windows application, and Apple and Android apps for smartphones and tablets.
inPractice Africa was developed in cooperation with the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) and the University of the Witwatersrand and made possible by a public–private partnership grant from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and grants from Abbott, Gilead Sciences, Janssen, and Merck pharmaceutical companies, as well as a major investment from inPractice Resources.
"We are excited to partner with the Society to bring the inPractice Africa resource to its members throughout South Africa," said Samantha Parsons, General Manager, inPractice Africa. "We have worked very hard throughout the past year to deliver a unique and flexible technology platform that brings critical patient care information and certification programs to the clinicians who need them most."
"Our mission is to promote evidence-based HIV treatment throughout South Africa," said Lauren Jankelowitz, Chief Executive Officer, SAHIVCS. "We believe that offering inPractice Africa to our members will help us to more effectively achieve that goal, equipping them with training resources and easy access to the latest guidelines and treatment recommendations."
Additionally, Edward King, MA, Chief Innovation Officer, inPractice and Clinical Care Options (CCO) has been invited to present at the society's 2nd Biennial Conference in Cape Town, 27 September, 2014 on educational and training technology. Mr. King will share information on how the inPractice team applied best practices and technological innovation to bring digital learning and an easy-to-use point of care reference to South African clinicians.
