SAN FRANCISCO, March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its Hiring for Good program, Entelo has partnered with The Stride Center to prepare low-income adults for interviewing and securing IT jobs in the highly-competitive Bay Area market. Hiring for Good is Entelo's social impact program designed to improve communities by supporting education programs that help close the technology skills gap in low-income communities.
"At Entelo, our mission is to connect employers with the best candidates and help potential employees find jobs they love. We started our Hiring for Good initiative two years ago to improve access to career opportunities for diverse and underrepresented groups, including those at the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder," said Jill Witty, vice president of operations at Entelo. "The Stride Center is a great partner. They equip students with IT expertise and skills needed to find a job, while Entelo helps with job-readiness skills through mock interviews, advice on creating social profiles and practice of their elevator speech."
In a new take on the "Buy One – Give One" model, Entelo sponsors one student's certification test every time a customer makes a hire. Every certification these students achieve increases their likelihood of finding a job by 15-25%. When students are able to find jobs as a result of their studies at The Stride Center, their income increases an average of 45%, showing the true impact made by this organization.
"We partner with a number of technology companies in the Bay Area. Entelo is the first company of its size that we've seen start community engagement from its inception, " said Barrie Hathaway, executive director of The Stride Center. "The Entelo team recently spent a day with our students readying them for the interview process and making them more marketable. Together, we are increasing the career potential and success for our students."
