STOCKTON, Calif., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In-Shape Health Clubs, California's top destination for fitness and recreation, today announced its goal to raise $150,000 for cancer research in the month of October for its 4th annual Fight Cancer campaign.
"Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the US and touches so many people in different ways. We wanted to pick a cause that would have the greatest impact across our broad community and all our members, so that together, we can help the most amount of people," said Francesca Schuler, CEO of In-Shape Health Clubs.
A small idea that started in 2015, #InShapeFightsCancer has evolved into a cause that its teams and communities actively rally around and is getting bigger every year. This year, In-Shape will try to increase the amount raised by 15 per cent.
"In-Shape isn't just a health club. It is a place of belonging where members can connect in different ways – including contributing back to the community together," Schuler said. "We believe in the power of community to make a difference which is why we invest resources to encourage our community of members, team members, and partners to work together for a great cause," she continued.
This year, In-Shape will center its fundraising efforts on using fitness as a way to help yourself and to help your community.
"In planning this year's campaign, we kept coming back to one of our brand pillars – being passionate about fitness. We wanted to provide our communities with a way to give back by doing something they love to do every day – a workout – that will make a difference in someone else's life. That's why we came up with the donation-based Ride Out Cancer and Dance Out Cancer events on October 12."
In-Shape is using every area of its clubs to motivate members to get involved: from classes in both the Cycle and Fitness Studios, to boot camps in the 360 Fit areas, to a special kids coloring card in the Kid Zones, to racquetball, tennis and pickleball tournaments on the courts, to expanded retail in the lobbies.
In addition to the donation-based fitness related events, In-Shape will donate $1 for every new member who joins in October and will donate $1 for every photo shared on social media tagged with #InShapeFightsCancer. Paper kettlebells will be for sale for $2, $5 and $10 at the front desk of every club.
In-Shape will be the flagship sponsor of two Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events and In-Shape team members will represent the company by walking in both the Modesto and Bakersfield events.
In-Shape's fitness partners are also helping with the campaign. Les Mills will sponsor a dynamic event featuring Les Mills Master Trainers on October 6 at three clubs throughout the state. Tickets can be purchase online for the events at Browns Valley, Merced and Seven Oaks.
The Ride Out Cancer and Dance Out Cancer events will be held on October 12 in 50 clubs. Les Mills will be providing all-star Master cycle instructors at select clubs for the Ride Out Cancer events.
The campaign officially kicks off on September 26 with a huge all-day member appreciation event at all clubs. Bring your friends in for snacks, a free boot camp and group fitness classes. Plus, you can check out the new retail or see it online at inshape.com/shop.
"October is my favorite month at In-Shape. Our team members and members enthusiastically drive this campaign to be bigger and better every year. #InShapeFightsCancer is the perfect example of what In-Shape does best," finished Schuler.
All proceeds from the #InShapeFightsCancer campaign will go directly to cancer research and the American Cancer Society.
