SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Tools for Schools, a social media-based program run by Schools Financial Credit Union, will match up to $10,000 in donations for classroom supplies for local schools. The program, launched today, invites anyone to donate money — either online or at a Schools Financial branch — or drop off specific classroom supplies at any branch through August 31, 2017. Beginning August 15, 2017, people can use Schools Financial's Facebook page to nominate a school to receive a van full of essential classroom supplies. "Donate then Nominate" is the theme of this program, that will ultimately help thousands of K-12 students.
"After offering our Education Matters teacher grant program in 2016, we heard first-hand from hundreds of teachers about the widespread need for classroom materials. Because we were founded by teachers over 80 years ago, we are committed to developing innovative ways to support schools, teachers, students and families in the communities we serve," said Schools Financial Credit Union President/CEO, Tim Marriott. "Our Tools for Schools program will match up to $10,000 for classroom supplies by harnessing the connective power of social media, which has helped us reach 500,000 people in the past 12 months," said Marriott.
