Ignacio High School Unveils New GreenFields Athletic Field

Predictability, durability of artificial turf cited as reasons to build

DURANGO, Colo., Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The new athletic field at Ignacio High School has been in use for about a month now and early reports from both athletes and school personnel have been very positive.

"We've been trying for seven years to get this field," said Lupe Huerta, Head Football Coach for Ignacio. "Our old field was worn out, we would have a month or two where the playing surface was decent then it would turn to dirt and get really hard and unsafe."

Huerta went on to say that the natural turf that the new field replaced had proven unsatisfactory for quite some time. "The natural turf was not good, the football team was tired of stepping into holes and on top of the sprinkler heads. Now we have a great surface all year around," he said.

The job was completed after a successful bid by Academy Sports Turf, utilizing GreenFields SlideMax XQ. The field was installed with alternating panels of field green and field green-lime with red end zones and a large bobcat head, the home team's logo, mid-field.
