HERNDON, Va., March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced the release of the EC Series Remotes. With the addition of embedded computing functionality to specific iDirect remotes, the EC Series enables partners to couple market-leading iDirect technology with best-in-class software solutions tailored for a given market. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.
The EC Series of remotes consolidate solutions that would typically require use of a multi-box configuration into a 1U rack-mounted form factor, reducing the hardware footprint, simplifying installation, decreasing points of failure and lowering power consumption. This series of solution remotes offer enhanced functionality to standard iDirect remotes by adding extra processing power and memory to run approved software applications to deliver market specific solutions, such as low-end enterprise connectivity, to cellular backhaul, to communications on the move.
Partners are able to license supported applications that enhance the capabilities of the remote, delivering specialized services to meet specific market needs.
The four initial applications include:
The X7-EC remote is the first in the EC Series. A variant of the iDirect X7 satellite remote, the X7-EC combines advanced features of the X7, such as two DVB-S2 demodulators, multicast capabilities and advanced mobility features with extra computing power. This helps enable new services, ranging from enterprise connectivity, to cellular backhaul, to communications on the move. The X1-EC will be designed for less complex network requirements in a more cost effective package.
"Changing network requirements, driven by the rapid proliferation of devices and connections globally, continue to place significant demand on the delivery of high-speed, more efficient services at a low cost. The iDirect EC series of remotes are designed to provide our partners with complete solutions that meet market-specific requirements, in a low-cost form factor," says David Harrower, Vice President, Business Development, iDirect.
