ID Media SVP, Group Director of Media Strategy Josh Martin to Speak at the TV of Tomorrow Show
NEW YORK, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Josh Martin, SVP, Group Director of Media Strategy at ID Media, an Interpublic Group media agency, will be speaking at today's TV of Tomorrow Show, held at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
The event, now in its sixth year, brings together the industry's leading experts to discuss the latest trends, issues, technologies and innovations surrounding the interactive television (iTV) space. Josh, who currently heads ID Media's digital practice, will be speaking on a panel examining iTV's future following the collapse of Canoe Ventures' iTV business unit, an industry consortium.
Formed in 2008 by six cable giants—Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision Systems, Cox Communications, Charter Communications and Bright House Networks—Canoe Ventures aimed to deliver a national, standardized method of delivering interactive commercials to consumers' homes via a pay-TV set-top box. Following hurdles including technology and pricing inefficiencies, Canoe shut down the iTV unit of its venture earlier this year.
"The Canoe Ventures project was ambitious and incredibly important, as it tried to bring iTV technology to national cable networks' ad sales teams," says Josh. In the aftermath of Canoe's iTV unit collapse, "it will be interesting to see the future unfold, especially as traditional TV players will have to work harder to compete with online video and user engagement."
Barry Frey, the ex-Cablevision exec who led the company's push into iTV advertising, will moderate the panel. Josh will be joined by six panelists, including Doug McGary, President and CTO, Accelerated Media; Aaron McNally, Manager, TV Ads, Google; Chip Meehan, VP-Advanced Advertising Sales, Comcast Spotlight; Roland Noll, Exec Director-Product Management, AT&T U-verse; Jeff Siegel, SVP-Global Media Sales, Rovi; and Pat Ivers, EVP-Ad Sales, Delivery Agent.
