According to recent survey from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Research Foundation, the latest Small Business Optimism Index rose two points to 93.4, indicating that plans for hiring and expansion remain steady in 2014. NFIB members increased employment for the sixth month in a row with 47 percent of small business owners reporting that they hired or tried to hire in the last three months and 41 percent reporting few, or no qualified candidates for their open positions. In addition, 22 percent stated that they have job openings that they have been unable to fill. All statistics point to a further need for small businesses to develop robust talent acquisition strategies.
