Hyland Healthcare Collaborates with Change Healthcare to Speed and Simplify Claim Attachments for Providers and Payers
Hyland's workflow and business process management technology, coupled with the Change Healthcare Intelligent Healthcare Network™, help providers slash the time and expense required to submit medical claim attachments
CLEVELAND, Sept. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyland Healthcare and Change Healthcare today announced a new channel partnership through which the companies will offer fully integrated medical claims attachment technology. Now, instead of spending days using fax, portals or postal mail, providers and payers can transmit claim attachments quickly and automatically–helping to improve the patient experience, optimize the revenue cycle, and reduce the inefficiency and wait time posed by medical documentation requests.
Through this collaboration, Hyland's OnBase Mackinac workflow and business process management solution will leverage the Change Healthcare Intelligent Healthcare Network™, which reaches nearly all government and commercial payers (close to 2,100 connections), approximately 800,000 physicians, 130,000 dentists, 60,000 pharmacies, 5,500 hospitals, and nearly 400 vendors and 600 laboratories. As a result, payer and provider organizations will be able to securely exchange medical data and documentation electronically.
"Today, only six percent of healthcare claims attachments are submitted to health plans electronically, with the rest still sent via fax or mail,"1 said Mike Peresie, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Medical Network, Change Healthcare. "And even among those who are submitting electronically, payers have to hop from portal to portal, which is still a time-consuming and inefficient process. Through this collaboration, we're centralizing and automating the attachment process, so providers can focus on care instead of claims. If you're a current customer of Hyland or Change Healthcare, you can now dramatically reduce the need for faxing, mailing and portal access. If you're not a customer, it's a good time to consider becoming one, because the scope of this relationship can mean immediate, impactful changes to the way you handle attachments."
In addition to exchanging files, Mackinac's workflow capabilities will facilitate true collaboration between the payer and provider, accelerating communication and fast-tracking processes while decreasing costs. OnBase Mackinac tracks delivery and receipt, and enables collaboration to help reduce costs and eliminate risks and delays through increased transparency, quality and faster processes.
"Aligning with Change Healthcare is an exciting project because our combined scale can demonstrate the meaningful improvements that are possible when payer-provider networks collaborate in real time with modern technology tools," said Susan deCathelineau, vice president, global healthcare sales and services at Hyland. "Together, we can overcome the common challenges of outdated communication, creating more accurate, consistent and faster processes, as well as greater transparency, less risk and lower costs for healthcare organizations."
Mackinac has the potential to significantly reduce the current costs and operational friction of exchanging information by paper methods. Currently, most providers deliver compliance-ready administrative and clinical attachments to payers utilizing the same set of document exchange tools they have been using for years to send millions of attachments per month. By utilizing an organization's existing secure infrastructure and services, OnBase Mackinac electronically routes the right information to the right person at the right time – eliminating duplicative, lost or misplaced information.
