CLEVELAND, Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Housing Authority of Alameda County (HACA) was faced with major budget reductions and staffing losses, making it difficult to process its more than 1,300 billed ports with nearby housing authorities. Invoice processing procedures that used to take reams of paper and more than 20 hours per week to complete now take less than three hours per week because of paperless workflows initiated through OnBase by Hyland, HACA's enterprise content management (ECM) solution. HACA must bill nearby housing authorities for housing assistance payments and administrative fees related to approximately 1,500 clients who have exercised "portability" to move from nearby jurisdictions into HACA's jurisdiction. A tremendous amount of time and paper was dedicated to these port billing processes. It involved copying and shipping reams of documents to nearby housing authorities, which would then have to review them and process payment. Using OnBase, Hyland's ECM solution implemented by NEKO Industries, and integrated with a secure file transfer protocol (FTP) site, HACA is now able to efficiently process portability billing documents without generating any paper.
