Horizon Media Named to Advertising Age's 2015 List of Best Places to Work
List Honors 50 of the Best Places to Work in Advertising and Media
NEW YORK, Nov. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Horizon Media, the largest and fastest growing privately held media services agency in the world, is proud to announce that it has been named #28 on Advertising Age's list of best places to work in Advertising and Media. The agency was among 50 companies selected based on criteria such as hiring practices, benefits packages, salaries, office perks, workplace environment and design. Nearly 20,000 advertising and media employees were surveyed as part of the selection process.
Horizon Media places a strong emphasis on creating a culture that brings its 'Business is Personal' mantra to life, encourages agency employees to think inventively, and to give back to those in need. In the past year alone, the agency has launched UpStartU, a course that sends its entrepreneurial employees to study intrapreneurship at the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS); Dunes of Dreams, the agency's invention development program that invites employees to submit their best ideas for the opportunity to turn their concepts into a reality; and a philanthropic trip to Peru with Cross-Cultural Solutions. The agency's additional offerings include over a dozen intramural sports teams, a ski house for employees, and health and wellness programs such as massage, acupuncture, and "breath, rest, and restore" classes.
"Being named by Advertising Age as a best place to work is a testament to our amazing spirited culture," said Eileen Benwitt, EVP, Chief Talent Officer at Horizon Media. "Our mission is to provide an environment that encourages our employees to show up, both professionally and personally, which creates all the greatness here. This is the third time we have been named to this list and we are incredibly proud."
"As always, the competition was tough. Out of the hundreds of companies who applied, we're calling out more honorees than ever before. Fifty big shops, independents, agencies, ad tech, and media companies earned recognition for being leaders in recruiting, retaining, and cultivating talent," said Ken Wheaton, editor of Advertising Age. "At the end of the day all these organizations are in the talent business and they're doing it right. They're finding interesting, relevant, and often unexpected ways to create cultures and work environments that keep employees engaged."
The prestigious honor follows a number of awards that the agency has received for its culture and commitment to its employees. Horizon was named to the esteemed Los Angeles Business Journal 2015 'Best Places to Work in Los Angeles' list, as well as Crain's New York Business 2014 and 2015 'Best Places to Work in New York City' list this year. The agency also won the Employee Engagement Awards' Best Program (Large Company) category, and earned Crain's Best Places, Best Practices Challenge Award, which recognizes the most innovative idea that promotes recruitment, retention or rewarding employees. The agency has previously been named to Advertising Age's Best Places to Work List in 2011 (#13) and 2012 (#10).
Submissions were evaluated by Advertising Age research partner Buck Consultants LLC. With nearly a century of experience in employee and human resource consulting, Buck crafted two surveys to help Advertising Age find the companies with the best benefits and most-engaged employees. The employer survey contained about 100 questions, including questions about pay, promotions, health care and other benefits and hiring practices. The employee survey contained about 50 questions. It measured aspects of the workplace environment that contribute to an engaged staff, including matters such as fairness of pay, vacation time, relationships with management and co-workers, career development and other workplace issues. Any agency, ad tech or media company with more than 40 full-time employees in the U.S. was eligible.
Advertising Age's full list of the 50 Best Places to Work in advertising and media will appear in its November 16th print issue and online at www.adage.com.
