Honda Gives Los Angeles Band, Monsters Calling Home, First National Spotlight
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Up-and-coming Los Angeles band Monsters Calling Home recently recorded, performed and shot a music video inside their Honda vehicles. Last night, Honda gave the six-member band the surprise of a lifetime by getting them their unexpected big break as the special musical guest on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (weeknights at 12 a.m.).

This ruse began when Honda hired a few actors and rented a hotel ballroom for the band to perform for a few hundred Honda executives. But an "emergency meeting" kept all but two from showing up. What started off as the worst gig ever quickly turned into the best gig of the band's career when they learned that Honda arranged for them to be on the popular late-night program. Earlier this summer, Honda noticed Monsters Calling Home's "Fight to Keep" video featuring band members' Accord, CR-V and Fit. Believing that Honda was gathering and producing future Facebook content, the brand orchestrated this latest chapter of "Honda Loves You Back," an effort dedicated to Honda fans who have shared their love of the brand in incredible ways.
"Monsters Calling Home has a unique and engaging sound that we think will appeal to our fans. We turned their fun music video into an opportunity to show some appreciation for the band and all Honda fans and owners," said Tom Peyton, AVP, Advertising and Marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Two years ago, Honda began showing some mutual love to connect with fans and current owners in surprising ways, like paying for Honda owners' parking, showing reciprocal gestures of love on Facebook and celebrating one million miles with a special owner.
"We're proud of Honda's success in social media with our 'Honda Loves You Back' campaign, and are honored to read about our dedicated owners' stories and to share their enthusiasm on Honda's social channels," said John Watts, Sr. Manager, Digital Marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
