Hispanic National Bar Association President Benny Agosto, Jr. Appoints Roman Hernandez as HNBA Representative to the ABA House of Delegates

WASHINGTON, Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) is pleased to announce the appointment of former HNBA National President and current Chairman of the Board of Directors of The HNBA Legal Education Fund ("HNBA Fund") Roman D. Hernandez as the HNBA's representative to the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates by Benny Agosto, Jr., HNBA National President. In accordance with the HNBA and ABA procedures, this appointment has been made after consideration and consent from HNBA President-Elect Peter M. Reyes, Jr., as the appointment is for two years.

Roman D. Hernandez, shareholder at the law firm of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in Portland, Oregon, previously served as HNBA National President from 2009-2010. Mr. Hernandez follows other former HNBA Presidents who served the HNBA in this very important position after their service as HNBA National President concluded, including The Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna, Ramona E. Romero, Lillian Apodaca, and Dolores Atencio. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his professional accomplishments within and outside the HNBA, including being listed among Latino Leaders Magazine's "101 Most Influential Hispanic Leaders" and Hispanic Business Magazine's "Top 100 Most Influential Leaders." In addition to his practice in employment law, labor law, and business litigation, Mr. Hernandez devotes much of his time and leadership to community organizations such as the HNBA Fund, the Board of Directors of the Oregon Community Foundation, and the Board of Directors of Oregon Health & Science University, Oregon's only academic health center which employs 12,000 people and is Portland's largest private employer. He graduated from Oregon State University, and then earned his J.D. from The Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College.
