HUNTSVILLE, Ala., June 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Hexagon PPM, the world's leading provider of enterprise engineering design software and project control solutions, has partnered with Skanska Sweden to leverage the power of HxGN SMART Build for one of Sweden's most prominent construction companies. Skanska will use SMART Build to consolidate all elements of its estimation, design, planning, scheduling, pre-construction and construction processes into one easy–to-use, powerful cloud platform.
Implementing SMART Build will enable Skanska to aggregate, manage and make sense of 3D, 4D and 5D project data to deliver better, more predictable project outcomes. As changes occur in the project data, the downstream impact can be identified and suitable options adopted. The partnership with Hexagon ultimately will allow Skanska to realise its 2020 corporate vision of using digital construction technologies to improve productivity, profit margins and overall client satisfaction.
This initiative aims to deliver significant benefits for both organisations, with Hexagon PPM working with Skanska to accelerate the strategic development of the SMART Build solution. Skanska's validation of existing functionality and input into the product roadmap will support creation of the next-generation construction management platform, benefiting the global construction market.
The collaboration involves the delivery of two parallel work streams over the next 12 months:
- The integration of SMART Build with Skanska's existing in-house-developed estimating and cost control application.
- A series of non-live and live project deployments of the SMART Build product suite including its integration with Hexagon robotic total stations to support digital site layout.
Commenting on the decision to choose the SMART Build solution, Per-Ola Svahn, technical manager, Skanska, said, "We are excited to partner with Hexagon to work together toward Skanska's vision of a new level of construction, where we will move toward an integrated construction process."
Mattias Stenberg, Hexagon PPM president, said, "We are looking forward to our partnership with Skanska Sweden. Through our partnership, we can strengthen HxGN SMART Build to create value-based, field- and office-tested innovations that will greatly impact construction productivity and processes on projects around the world."
